Impetus is an engineering consulting firm that specialises in the development of innovative transport solutions.

 

We are currently developing a proposal for connecting two campuses of Imperial College London, Imperial West and South Kensington.

 

The strategic investment plan of Imperial College is centred on the new Imperial West development, which the college aims to transform into London’s innovation district. This will lead to three main challenges: increased demand for transportation between Imperial West and the main campus, the need for this transportation link to be efficient and the desire for the college to enhance its reputation.

 

Our proposal to tackle these challenges is to build a cable car, the SKYHOPPER, to be used by both Imperial staff and students, in addition to the public. This cable car will have three main stations: Imperial West, South Kensington and Westfield shopping centre. These stations have been chosen to fulfil two main aims: increase cohesion within the college, as well as allow for integration of the new transport mode by encouraging its use by shoppers of two main shopping districts and visitors of the South Kensington museums.
